I got really into art when I was very young. We spent a lot of time in church and my brother and I always fought, my mom gave us notebooks and would say “just draw something’, and that’s how we both became very good at drawing.

I went to school and studied art at the University of New Mexico without knowing really where it would take me, but then I entered the corporate world where I stayed for sixteen years. I’ve always touched art in some way, so it never truly disappeared from my life. I found ways to keep my creativity alive, there was always that idea of returning to art. After sixteen years I had the opportunity when my job offered a voluntary separation package that allowed me to take a step back and think if I could really dedicate myself to what I’m passionate about, and at the same time support my family.

In my paintings I try to mix a lot of deep meaning, many of them talk about life and death topics with which I myself have to deal with but also look for balance by creating works that channel beauty.

With art I’m always on, there are no days of rest. Whether it’s a color palette, an idea, or a composition, my mind is going twenty-four hours a day even in my dreams. I’m excited to see where this road takes me and what the future holds.
